Argan tree is native to southern Moracco.
Argan oil is pressed from the kernel seeds with the argan fruit.
The traditional method of cultivating argan includes the local goats climbing the argan trees and feasting on its fruit. This study found that as much as 84% of the goats diet is made up of argan fruit and leaves. The goats then poop out the undigestible argan seeds, which are collected and processed into argan oil.
Argan oil is safe to ingest and is often used to dip bread. It has a shelf life of 18 months.

Argan is commonly used in Moroccan traditional medicine.
