Botanical name: Pimenta racemosa  

Family Myrtaceae  

Botany  

A small forest tree, grows up to 15 meters. Native to the West Indies and is cultivated in Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean islands.  

Therapeutic actions 

Analgesic: relieves or diminishes pain 

Antiseptic: destroys or controls pathogenic bacteria. Used topically.  

Anti-viral: destroy and inhibit the spread of viruses

Astringent: contracts, tightens and binds tissues.  

Expectorant: expels mucus in the respiratory system

Stimulant: stimulates the physiological functions of the body
