Tamanu trees are native to Polynesia in the South Pacific. Highest population of tamanu is grown in Indonesia.
The inedible oil is extracted from the nut. It is thick in viscosity, dark green in color, and nutty/woodsy in scent.

Anti-fungal properties make tamanu beneficial for the treatment of athlete's foot, a fungal infection that affects the skin of the feet.
